Materials & Processes

The materials and processes, and particularly the combinations of those materials to which a process is applied, can form a large part of an overall Space Project. The use of existing qualified M&P will greatly reduce the risks and costs on the project. The use of new combinations, or using qualified processes outside of their scope of qualification, will require evaluation prior to their final selection followed by a Qualification and approval programme.

DB Assurance can provide the following services:

  • Manage the overall materials and processes programme in accordance with ECSS-Q-ST-70C.
  • Support Design Engineers in selecting materials and processes which have Space heritage.
  • Identify Qualification status of the materials and processes proposed for use in the Product.
  • Initiate Request for Approval to ESA for new materials & process qualifications.
  • Identify any high risks or cost drivers when new Material and Process combinations are proposed.
  • Generate and maintain the Declared Materials & Processes Lists.
  • Represent the client Company at Customer Materials, Mechanical Parts and Processes reviews.
